Lugano is the largest city of the Swiss canton of Ticino, as well as of the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland. Nestled between the Lake of Lugano and the southern ranges of the Swiss Alps, it offers unique attractions to all kinds of travellers: leisurely walks and a beautiful panorama at the lake shore, hikes and climbs for the mountaineer, state-of-the-art congress venues to business travelers, as well as diverse festivals throughout the summer and museums and cultural events, just to name a few. We also boast an excellent choice of restaurants, serving local and international cuisine.
The setting of Lugano is a splendid blend of Swiss culture and Italian influence, with the border to Italy just a few kilometers away. We are on the Southern side of the Alps, which gives Lugano a warm climate; in particular in September, when the ICANN is going to take place, we expect comfortable weather, still with warm and sunny days, and pleasantly cool nights.
